Hey everyone! I'm Potters, and I'm super excited to help kickstart Gemcraft. You'll have noticed me making a few announcements, so thank you! I have experience with both Management and Development - I hope both of those skills can come into use with Gemcraft.

Why is the server so dead?

We understand that there has been a lack of communication and activity on our part, and we want to address this as we move forward with our revamp. Our commitment is to be more transparent and provide a steady stream of content for all of you, starting with this Q&A.

To achieve this, our initial step is to gather feedback from you. Your insights are invaluable as they will help us learn from our past mistakes and identify any pain points and areas that we can improve upon.

In addition, we are actively working on solidifying our team and commissioning new builds, plugins, and more. However, it's important to note that this is not an instant fix. We want to ensure we do justice to Gemcraft, and that might take some time.

As we embark on this journey, we sincerely hope for the support of our community. Your continued feedback is crucial to our success. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to help shape the future of Gemcraft.

Do you think you know Gemcraft's Flaws?

We’re working with the current team, along with new members who you may have seen around. This means we’ve got a mixed amount of knowledge, but we’re hoping that’s a good thing! We think Gemcraft could do with some fresh eyes, and hopefully, some fresh attitudes towards its development. Part of that is relying upon you guys to let us know what’s wrong, and engaging with us whilst we’re trying to learn!

Let us be clear - we know Gemcraft is not in the state it should be. It’s clear that it’s been neglected, and is in need of some much needed TLC! We’re currently talking about what our plans are over the coming months, and how we can provide Gemcraft with sustainable updates, not just one-time support.

What are you planning for Gemcraft?

At the moment, we’re doubling down on our core - we want to make sure Gemcraft is in a stable condition, before we go about adding new content. However, that doesn’t mean we’re not looking towards the future! We plan on holding regular polls on new features, allowing us to get some insight from you guys about future content. We’ll be startin this today, with a poll posted later on our Discord. To give you some insight into our plans, we’ve created some points that address some of the issues that our staff team have flagged!

First and foremost, we're currently working on a 1.20 update. This will allow you guys to explore the new resources made available, and help us create epic new content!
We realise that new content is a good start, but we need to double down on our existing setup. We'll be focusing on bug fixes throughout the summer.
We're looking at hosting different events, some of which will be new to Gemcraft! The first will go live with the 1.20 update, so keep your eyes peeled! There might even be a few prizes...
With these new updates, come new players. We'll be launching an advertisment campaign to put Gemcraft back on the map. This will include you guys, with rewards for players who actively engage and promote our community!

Discord Support and Tickets

Hello, fellow Gemcrafters!

You may ask the question...

“What are Discord tickets for?”

Here's a quick rundown of what they are for, why to use them, and how to best use them.

Our Discord Ticket system is for players and community members to report problems to the staff team (such as grief, glitches, bugs, and player or staff reports). You may also create a ticket for ban/mute appeals* and applications for content creator roles. Discord tickets are private conversations between you and our staff team. Please use the #general-support channel for general questions.

To create a ticket, make sure that you are a member of our Gemcraft Survival Discord server.

Look for a channel called #ticket-support (shown in the picture below) and click on it. Read the rules and then click on the emoji to create a ticket.

The ticket rules are pretty simple!

If you open a ticket, please state the reason for opening a ticket
Please be patient when opening a ticket. It may take some time for a staff member to respond. DO NOT PING STAFF MEMBERS. Someone will respond to you within an hour.
Staff will close the ticket when appropriate, do not take it upon yourself to do this for us.
If the staff team has informed you that the problem will take some time to be resolved, remain patient we will update you if required.
Please act politely and with respect towards the staff team!

What happens after a ticket gets created?

After the ticket gets created, ask the question in chat or state your problem. Provide as many details as possible! Our staff team will then discuss what to do next and solve the problem. All tickets are kept private between the you and our staff team.

Here's an example:

You found out your base was griefed, with no staff members online to deal with it, so you create a ticket on Discord. First, you put in your in-game name (often termed as IGN), then explain that your base was griefed. You wait until a staff member gets there and responds to the ticket. Once the staff member gets there, you will do what they ask you to/answer their questions. Once the problem gets resolved, the staff closes the ticket.

*Ban/mute appeal - an appeal in which a person banned/muted tries to lower their ban/mute period

Let's kick off the school year with a fresh update

1.17

The server's base version is now 1.17. What does that mean? We now only support clients 1.17 and higher. You may now enjoy all of the incredible features that 1.17 has which range from amazing new mobs including Axolotls and Goats, to powdered snow collecting in your cauldrons.

Don't forget to cover your brewing devices or they'll fill with snow!

A variety of other new QOL updates including:

New Custom Enchants

Featuring three brand new tiers of enchantments!

Delphic, Mythical and Divine

This update brings over 40 new custom enchants into the game, replacing our old minimalist enchants. These should enhance your gameplay and encourage people to continue using and grinding for your EXP.

We have also fixed some small bugs regarding flight, quests, and with the Pinata Party.

We have added a new information GUI for MCMMO

The MCMMO information can be accessed by typing either /skills or /mcmmo

It provides detailed information about every skill, special abilities, and server-wide statistics.

Jobs Overhaul

The Jobs menu now provides a few more jobs, a few more statistics, and server-wide statistics. It also provides much more detailed and in-depth information about all Jobs that are available to work on the server.

We have now introduced Chunk Collectors!

You can now obtain both chunk collectors and sell chests in the /credit store!

Chunk collectors will simply pick up all items in a chunk that are dropped, excluding armor, weapons, and ores.

Chunk sell hoppers operate similarly however will sell items they pick up. They are a great tool for selling things from your farms!

We have a lot more planned for the future including a 1.17 update, a hub, and many more QOL features. Stay tuned and happy crafting!
